Piqualé Hot Sauce

Piqualé is a craft hot sauce brand based in Wilmington, Delaware. Every batch is created using simple ingredients and unique flavor combinations for a sauce that complements food with flavor, not fire. Our goal was to create a visual identity that paid tribute to the simplicity, honesty and integrity of this small batch hot sauce brand. Piqualé is a nickname of the sauce’s creator, who wanted to incorporate his Scottish heritage into the vintage Southwestern inspired design. We chose the thistle as the main icon, which is the national flower of Scotland. The thistle also bears a striking resemblance to the cactus, a common symbol in Mexican and Southwest American iconography. The logotype, letterforms, graphic elements and warm, muted color palette add visual interest to the brand applications.
