Vashon Senior Center

Vashon Senior Center is rethinking what it means to live a full, active life for their local retirement community. We were approached to reimagine and reinvent their brand to appeal to a new generation of seniors while reinforcing their core mission and values. The Center creates a sense of community that enriches the lives of older adults, including helping seniors age in place in their own homes for as long as possible. The Center offers a wealth of resources for seniors, ranging from recreation, health and wellness, education and social service programs such as meals on wheels and low cost transportation.  They wanted to distinguish their organization as the fun, modern resource for older adults on Vashon Island and the surrounding Seattle area. 

For the logo, we created a simple yet playful word mark with juxtaposed text that can stand alone or be contained in a circle or square depending upon the application. We opted for a bold color palette that gives the brand an uplifting, vibrant and joyful feel. Pop art inspired geometric shapes and patterns are mixed and matched to allow for flexibility in both print and digital design. Since Vashon is an island, we created fun, brightly colored shapes reminiscent of maritime signal flags for a little nod to the nautical.

Their website was older, non-responsive and difficult to maintain, so we created a low-maintenance, responsive website that is easier to navigate for visitors and existing members. The design is fun and inviting, encouraging visitors to get involved. We integrated new features to streamline the process of registration as well as donation options.  We had such a wonderful time collaborating on this project that provides so much for older adults in Vashon.
